I am looking for people with a disorder called Castleman's Disease.
My name is Aspen and I'm 10 years old. When I was 4 years old, I got diabetes. When I first found out I had it, I remember wondering if I would ever be able to eat sugar again. I also wondered if the diabetes would ever go away, and if I would always have to have my parents take care of me. I remember being scared and sad when the doctors and nurses said it would never go away. I felt like I was very different from everyone else, and that I would always be left out of things. I felt all alone.
Recently I was in my office discussing the economy with a new acquaintance. He was quick to point out that in his mind, there were three "evils" in the world that were actually causing our sagging economy and financial collapse. I was dumbfounded when he gave me the list. They were:
IN SEARCH OF DR. BARBARA G. DOUGLAS - Rhode Island Avenue, NE. Washington, DC
My 12 yr old daughter has been suffering for the past year with her right arm, hand and fingers swelling and she is in a lot of pain when this happens. the veins in her arm turn very dark and her arm stays warm (hot to touch). I have taken her to a number of doctors in Louisiana and in Texas and no one can seem to pinpoint exactly what is causing this. The episodes start happening maybe once every month or so now they are occuring more often, in which it is starting to interfere with her school work. I am so tired of going from one doctor to the next and no one can help me. She is so tired of being stuck with needles that all she can do is cry her self to sleep at night. I pray that someone, anyone reads this and can offer me and family so help to end this once and for all.
I work in the healthcare field. I also have created a website where I assist people with medical bills, since I have found at least one error on all of mine. I am doing this in memory of my father-in-law. He knew he had cancer so paid every bill that came in the door, and half of them were just statements. I convinced him to let me help him but realized there are lots of people out there paying bills when they don't need to. I love to help people and so am doing everything at my cost to see how I can help society and others. My website is medichek4u.org, and I would love to help anyone with bills, denials of payment by insurance companies or other factors. I don't plan on making a profit, just perhaps leaving my footprint on society somehow. Hope I can help someone.
I read an interesting article today from WalletPop.com about simple ways to cut your medical costs. I am a huge proponent of preventative health. The way I keep my costs down is I STAY HEALTHY so I don't have to pay money to doctors and hospitals! Unfortunately, I do have to visit every once in awhile, so I found the information in this article helpful. In a nutshell, here is what I got out of it:
I have a little 2 1/2 year old son. His name is Spencer and he is one of the greatest joys of my life! ...Though he is HANDFUL to say the least! (This morning he came into my office and told me how much he loved me and he hoped I wouldn't be mad at him when I saw the mess in the kitchen. I won't go into details now, but 'the mess' consisted of a lot of food in the middle of my kitchen floor, and took the rest of the morning to clean up. Gotta love the terrible 2's! I'm sure many parents out there can relate.)
Dad still has heard nothing. I get sick at times waiting to hear something. Then nothing. He still has blood in his urine but can not get an appointment. He has been looking forward to retirement for so long I hope this is just kidney stones or something minor. |
