Your concern for your mother and her surgery is commendable. Everyone should be so fortunate to have an advocate like you. On your physicians, it is good to check them out. In surgery you will probably have several physicians including the anesthesiologist. Get a list of all the physicians that are either consulting or performing some part of the surgery. Research them on checkMD and the individual state medical board site for any disciplinary problems. Make sure they are board certified in their specialty. Ask the nurses and other clinical personnel about each physician. Find out how many of these types of surgeries the main surgeon has performed and what have been the outcomes. While in the hospital make sure the medications given are the right ones and the correct dosages and that all personnel wash their hands throughly. My wife's Aunt recently died after going into a hospital for a normal procedure and getting a staph infection. Don't be afraid or intimidated to ask questions. All the best to you and your family.

Fallen Bladder Surgery 10 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I am hoping to hear advice and experience from other women who have had this procedure. My mom is scheduled to have it. It sounds very painful and rather serious but they want to send her home the same day.
I've read on the internet that a patient should stay in the hospital for several days. I'm worried on whether she has a competent physician or not and if it really is o.k. for her to leave care so soon after.

Thank you in advance
